Join the Federation ...
embership in the Federation assures societies of receiving timely information that may affect them and their ability to carry out the important work of their groups. Services provided to Federation members include:
- TheFederation Bulletin, which is published quarterly and mailed to each member organization, contains information of interest to organizations just like yours. Included in the bulletin are a calendar of events that announces meetings, tours, and exhibits, notices about grants, lists of publications available to members, and information about the needs and activities of other member organizations.
- Each year at the joint annual meeting of the Federation and the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association, the Federation presents the Albert Ray Newsome Award to local historical associations in recognition of outstanding work. The award consists of a $250 prize and a certificate.
- A revolving fund allows members to apply for interest free loans in order to be able to publish local history information.
- The Federation sponsors workshops and meetings to provide information and training to promote the success of historical organizations.
- Because the Office of Archives and History follows legislation affecting historic properties and historical organizations, members will be sure to receive such information promptly.
- Most importantly you should join because you and your organization would be a valuable asset to us. You have abilities and resources that, through the sharing of information, can be of help to other organizations in the state. Together we can work effectively to preserve, interpret, and promote history in North Carolina.
